Student Rank Empty Student Rank

we don't categorize students by grade or year, but rank when it comes to hierarchy. Why? Because a trainer's scholastic aptitude can't be categorized by age. It simply doesn't work that way. Look at the anime/manga. Lots of young kids have noticeable talent. So instead, students will advance towards graduation via a ranking system based on their grades and performance in practical exams (battles, contests, etc).

In your application you will be asked to assign a rank to your character, so here's a breakdown of the ranking system.

RANK 5 This is the rank most kids just entering Pokémon Academy will start at. In other words, this is noob rank - for complete noobs who don't know Pikachu from Squirtle. Spoiled rich kids who were sent to this school by their parents most likely start here.

RANK 4 For students who have a basic grasp on the concept of pokémon training, but have little practical experience, or have really bad grades. "Beginner" level, I guess.

RANK 3 Intermediate students who show a high level of improvement in their chosen major, or have all-around good grades. If your character was home schooled or transferred to the Academy from another school (or is one of those genius types), they're most likely a Rank 3.

RANK 2 If your student character is particularly good in any certain subject, they might just be a rank 2. Can someone say SENPAIIIII~? ...no?

RANK 1 There isn't an official Rank 1. Why? Because at Rank 1, you graduate from the Academy. We have nothing more to teach you. Here's your diploma, now get the hell out of here! With that in mind, you are not allowed to start out with a Rank higher than 4. Once your student graduates, they leave the school and cannot be played any more except in certain rare circumstances. (Alternatively, this is a good way to get rid of a character you no longer enjoy playing.)

BUT HOW DOES I GRADUATES?

okay fine I'll tell you

Teachers will determine when students will be promoted. After a decent amount of time ICly has passed (i.e. enough threads to show any real growth), a staff meeting (with IC staff characters, not site staff) will be held in the teacher's lounge. Each teacher will keep an eye out for students deserving of consideration. Those students who have really stood out will be discussed in the meeting. If a consensus is reached, then at the start of the next semester, students will be promoted and demoted (YES DEMOTED) accordingly.

Every time a student is promoted, a ceremony is held to celebrate the event and a new Lv5 pokémon of the student's choice is awarded to them. This excludes graduation, when the only thing awarded is a diploma.

HOW DOES I DEMOTED

uhhhhhh

Well it really depends on how serious you are about ... you know ... graduating. If you're constantly slacking off or getting into fights or skipping or you can get demoted. If you're really bad, you can get suspended. If you're really really stupid, like getting suspended multiple times, you can get expelled. (Expulsion is another way of getting rid of old, boring characters. And you know, DRAMA.)

Unlike with promotion, there is no ceremony. The school staff aren't sadists that want to publicly humiliate you in front of your peers. Instead, you will be privately chastised in the teachers' lounge with all the teachers gathered as this was a group decision in the first place. Although it will hardly remain a secret as your uniform will be replaced with the lower-rank uniform, making it plainly obvious to anyone who paid a second's worth of attention to you.

As if that wasn't bad enough, a (randomly chosen) pokémon is taken away from you. This is because if you get demoted, chances are good that you aren't responsible enough to handle multiple pokémon. However, it's not like it was the pokémon's fault you screwed up, so nothing bad will happen to the pokémon. Instead, it will be transferred to the pokémon corral, where you are free to visit it during mealtimes and breaks. However, you are not allowed to bring it with you; it must stay in the corral.
